Good Friday

Observed this Friday, (April 7, 2023) is an important day in the Christian calendar. We commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God and the savior of the world.

A Day of Hope

This holiday is a day of hope and redemption for Christians, despite its somber nature. We view Jesus’ death on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice made out of love for all of humanity. Moreover, we believe that Jesus has conquered sin and death through his death and resurrection, allowing all people to have eternal life with God.

A Time For Reflect

We can attend church services sing hymns, say prayers, and read the Bible.  Some churches have liturgical services like the Stations of the Cross, reflecting on Jesus’ journey to the cross.

Observe

Some of us may also observe Good Friday by fasting or abstaining from certain activities, symbolizing the sacrifice and suffering of Jesus and showing gratitude for his ultimate sacrifice.

The Meaning of Good Friday

To derive greater meaning from the day, we can pray and meditate, reflecting on the significance of Jesus’ death and its impact on our lives. It prompts us to remember the significance of selflessness, love, and sacrifice and to recommit ourselves to living a life of faith and service.

Time with Family

Lastly, Good Friday is a public holiday in some regions, giving people more time to observe the day and be with loved ones. It evokes sadness and hope worldwide, reminding us of Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice. The day encourages reflection and contemplation to renew commitment to love and service.
